NEW AMERICAN MOTORCYCLE ASSEMBLY LINE |
|
While
materials handling is an essential
part of moving finished goods, it
is often a key part of the manufacturing
process as well. A good example of
this is the assembly of the new Victory
motorcycle by Polaris Industries Inc.
at its plant in Spirit Lake, Iowa.
The
1999 Victory V92C was the first significant
motorcycle widely distributed by a
new American motorcycle manufacturer
in 60 years. Polaris is already recognised
as a world leader in snowmobile, all-terrain
vehicle and personal watercraft production.

TRAWLER
Parker Sempress Pneumatic control systems and compo-nents
have been specified for three critical operational areas
on the new Branding IV - a state-of-the art beam trawler
which has recently completed sea trials in The Netherlands.
The 42.35 metre Branding IV was built at Stellandam
by Maaskant Shipyards for Jac Betsema & Zoon of Oudeschild.
Like all big Dutch beamers, the vessel features a closed
stern which offers more space, less noise and improved
crew safety, which is further enhanced by the innovative
design of the superstructure.

HEIGHT OPERATION

Parker
Pneumatic and Meritor HVS Limited, suppliers of brake and
suspension systems to heavy goods vehicle and trailer manufacturers,
have jointly developed a new dock height control system for
vehicle trailers utilising air suspension - mark-eted as the
