Parker Sempress Pneumatic control
systems and components have been specified for three
critical operational areas on the new Branding IV -
a state-of-the art beam trawler which has recently completed
sea trials in The Netherlands.
The
42.35 metre Branding IV was built at Stellandam by Maaskant
Shipyards for Jac Betsema & Zoon of Oudeschild. Like
all big Dutch beamers, the vessel features a closed
stern which offers more space, less noise and improved
crew safety, which is further enhanced by the innovative
design of the superstructure.
A
Sempress PLC-based MicroSem 1E remote electropneumatic
system controls the vessel's main 2000 hp Deutz diesel
engine, which drives a fixed pitch 3.4 metre diameter
four blade propeller through a reversing reduction gearbox.
Parker
Sempress pneumatic components also control the trawler's
ten drum fishing winch and, in addition, the company's
electronic tank level gauging system is used to monitor
the vessel's fuel, oil and drinking water tanks. Parker
engineers have also been responsible for the on-board
installation of the systems.
The
Branding IV has been designed and constructed in accordance
with the Netherlands Shipping Inspectorate's requirements
and fully complies with safety regulations in force
for fishing in the Navigation Area II.
